Many dandelions can be found in Avery House’s inner courtyard at Caltech in Pasadena. This sample of dandelion was taken at around 2pm on Tuesday, May 28th, 2019. The dandelion seedhead has very thin filaments at the top, which help it carry the seed in the wind. These thin filaments can be seen in our foldscope image above, on the right; this image was obtained by placing the dandelion seedhead onto the foldscope and taking the image with a mobile cellular device.
