Location: This flower was found on the side of the turtle pond at the California Institute of Technology which is in Pasadena, California.
Time: May 30th 2019 at 16:10
How the sample was obtained: The sample was obtained by taking a petal of a flower and cutting a small bit of it. Then I stuck it on a sticky foldscope slide and tried to lay it down as flat as possible.
Description: We can see the segmentation of the petal which are separate cells. What I found interesting was that the cells closer to the edge of the petal are much longer. We can also see the areas at which the cells are pigmented very clearly, the edges are also far less pigmented.
This is the flower from which the petal was obtained. Here to we can see that the edges of the petals are much lighter in pigment.
