I am a faculty at Stanford and run the Prakash Lab at Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University. Foldscope community is at the heart of our Frugal Science movement - and I can not tell you how proud I am of this community and grassroots movement. I had an incredible pleasure of meeting Mr Graham Penniman and his son William (who just graduated from Stanford). Foldscope is a small tight knit community and we cross paths wherever we go. And so it was such a pleasure to meet Mr Graham, who has been teaching with a foldscope for some time in schools in Georgia. The challenges he faces in bringing affordable science for his students are steep and real; and it was such a pleasure to hear his vision and passion – for every single kid he meets. William, his son, is heading to Brazil to teach – I can’t wait what they will discover and share with a foldscope.
