STUDENT NAME : Keenisha Kannan. COLLEGE/SCHOOL : CMR National PU College, ITPL, Bangalore. SPECIMEN COLLECTED FROM : University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore on 18 th June 2019. SPECIMEN : Purple fountain grass, Teff grass and Swollen finger grass. SPECIMEN OBSERVED AT : CMR National PU College at ITPL, Bangalore on 21 st June 2018. Grasses are monocotyledons and belong to the family Gramineae . Leaves from these herbaceous plants appear as blades, with parallel veins. I observed three different types of grass under the foldscope Purple fountain grass Scientific name: Pennisetum setaceum ‘Rubrum’. It was first introduced as an ornamental plant which grows fast in any conditions. It is drought tolerant. The flowers of this grass has many purple, plumose flower spikes.
