“An outreach programme on popularizing the
application of Foldscope” was conducted on 31 st July, 2019 as part
of the twinning programme of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) funded
project on “Foldscope as a tool to screen parasitic infections in wild animals
of Tamil Nadu” of the Department of Wildlife Science, Faculty of Basic
Sciences, Madras Veterinary College Campus, Chennai with the ongoing Foldscope
project in College of Poultry Production and Management (CPPM), Hosur for the
benefit 70 students at CPPM. The program
was inaugurated by Dr. K.Mani,
Dean, CPPM. Dr.D.Ramasamy, Director (i/c) of Extension Education delivered a
special address on the innovation. Dr.M.Palanivelrajan, PI of the scheme
and Assistant Professor, Department of Wildlife Science, Madras Veterinary
College Campus, Chennai shared his experiences on the use of foldscope for the
spot diagnosis of parasitic diseases of wild animals with a practical
demonstration. Dr.V.Perasiriyan,
PI of DBT Foldscope scheme and Professor, Department of Food Business
Management, College of Food and Dairy Technology, Koduveli, Chennai demonstrated
the use of foldscope for assessing the storage quality of processed liquid food.
