The Triangular ocellar plate on head parts of Housefly The house fly, Musca domestica Linnaeus, is a well-known cosmopolitan pest of both farm and home. This species is always found in association with humans or the activities of humans. Most flies have three ocelli arranged at the vertices of a triangle, with a median ocellus and two posterior and lateral. The ocelli are arranged on a plate, called ocellar triangle or ocellar plate, in the vertex.
