Date : 24th Oct 2018 Place : Maharashtra Nature Park (MNP), Dharavi, Mumbai Description : After receiving the written permission to carry out field studies in the MNP, we paid our first visit in order to look around and choose the study sites (ecological niche). We spent a plesant afternoon walking around the park and narrowed down on the Lotus Pond, Rain water harvesting pond and the Bamboo grove to study water and soil samples respectively. We checked with the authorities that no pesticides etc were added into the water bodies that might adversely affect our biodiversity observation studies. The students made a couple of slides with fallen fig fruits and we observed these under the Foldscope.
