We’re a non-profit organization in India, and were very lucky to have hosted a Foldscope Workshop with Dr. Lakshminarayan Iyer at our campus. There were about 20 kids (rural) and 10 facilitators who were a part of this fantastic experience! Here are a few things we saw for the first time with our magic scopes 🙂

To describe this one-day workshop as a fantastic experience would be quite an understatement. To put things into more of a perspective, i’d like to explain our work a bit further. Agastya International Foundation works with economically disadvantaged children across India.

These are children with bare minimum or absolutely no resources; learning and retention in classrooms is extremely low, and there are very high drop-out rates. Agastya works with these kids to make learning fun, useful and accessible to them.
The group of girls who attended this workshop were a bunch of 9th graders from a village nearby. From the very beginning, their excitement levels were at an all-time high. So much so that they did not want to break for even lunch! Not just the children, even the facilitators were engaged throughout the day.

Pollen For someone who has worked with these children for a while, to see the joy and excitement on their faces when they worked with their foldscopes was beyond magical! We’re soon going to create a class group and upload pictures that the kids will take 🙂 Thanks again Dr. Iyer for introducing us to the Foldscope and the community! 🙂
