 My very first sample and observation with the foldscope is this almond seed coat! I routinely soak the almonds every night to have them in the morning. Today morning as I peeled soaked almonds, I was just curious as to how they would appear under the microscope.


 The seed coat was peeled off, dried and then mounted on the slide to observe under the foldscope. The seed coat of
 
 Prunus dulcis
 
 (almonds) is known to have a heterogeneous structure as I could observe. It has these beautiful and several layers of sclerenchyma cells which are apparently empty and rich in lignin and cellulose.
