I conducted this project as part of Professor Pringle’s EEB321 class at Princeton University.
One of my favorite aspects of biology classes was getting to work with microscopes to see into the vast but tiny worlds that exist alongside us. However, this time I chose to use my Foldscope to look at pieces of a dead Spotted Lanternfly some of my classmates picked up.
One of my favorite aspects of biology classes was getting to work with microscopes to see into the vast but tiny worlds that exist alongside us. However, this time I chose to use my Foldscope to look at pieces of a dead Spotted Lanternfly some of my classmates picked up.
Looking at a piece from the red section of the wing, I was amazed by how pretty and iridescent the wing looked. The raised structures as seen above are likely some of the veins running throughout the wing.
