An insect as viewed from the foldscope. On 4th February we visited schools we collaborate with to implement science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths (STEAM) programs. One such school is St John Fisher’s Mbui Njeru Secondary School in Embu County.
This school has been using Foldscope microscopes to unlock unseen worlds. According to their Biology teacher Ephantus Mutiga Schrodinger , this kind of exploratory learning enabled by the use of these portable microscopes has helped to teach and learn Biology in a manner that generates curiosity and inquiry.

According to him, this is a good step towards helping unlock undreamed futures in the world of STEAM. Having this in mind, we shall continuously keep working towards subduing critical barriers in STEAM Education by broadening learner participation in these vital fields through hands-on learning methodologies.
