I’m a private home tutor based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with lovely students ranging from 7-year-old to 18 year-old. I got my Foldscope package last week and couldn’t wait to share the good news with my students right away. I had to be selective as in who to give the Foldscope to since the number of sample was understandably limited. Then again, choosing younger kids from bigger family would be more rewarding as those with siblings would be able to work together and explore further by sharing the incredibly durable device, while learning how to work cohesively to obtain some amazing results. As exhibited in the images below, one of my students has eagerly assembled his set of Foldscope and started working on projected image within half an hour! The kit is filled with limitless potential so I would like to begin an online journal soon as most of my students know each other so they can have a common platform to share their findings and compete over who gets the most unique-looking sample. Thank you, Mr. Manu Prakash and your wonderful team of innovative thinkers for making us excited about the microscopic world around us. My kids and I shall keep you posted with more exciting discoveries that we come across from time to time.
