We all know this bug, whether as a roly poly, pill bug, wood louse, or Armadillidium vulgare . It’s a terrestrial member of the crustacean family that feeds on decaying plant matter, but it’s most famous for rolling up into a tight ball. Pill bugs have seven pairs of legs, each apparently covered with tiny, fine hairs! I never knew they were there, but these hairs cover are actually sensory receptors for touch and smell that cover the whole body. #Bio60
