As a member of the Stanford softball team, I had the unique opportunity to explore the outdoors while playing a three game series against Oregon State in Corvallis. In my downtime, the Foldscope was pulled out to better observe nature. My teammates were very curious with this device and ended up being consumed by it. Many hours were spent searching for different plants or small bugs that could be placed on a slide for examination. This activity became very popular and ended with many requests for a return when we travel to Washington in a few weeks. These two images were taken of two different flower petals. One petal came from outside our hotel in Albany, OR, while the other was found outside of the softball field in Corvallis, OR. The lighter colored flower was much easier to see as well as a strand of hair (not pictured). .
