I collected this flower petal a few weeks ago from a flower outside my Chemistry building. The petal itself was quite rounded, so I sliced the petal sample in half so that it would lay more flat in the slide. This picture was taken a few weeks after the sample was collected, so it is interesting to see how the petal changed. In the sample, you can see the discrepancy between the healthy part of the petal and the part that has begun to die. The structure of the petal is quite note-worthy. There are many branching, spindle-like structures that are placed in an almost symmetrical pattern. The concentration of the spindles also changes in different parts of the petal. It is also cool to see the change of the spindle-structure between the healthy portion of the petal and the dying portion.
