These photographs came from a flower petal taken from a fresh flower. The petal had a gradient of colors, which was clear under the foldscope. The more “zoomed out” photos show the individual cells on the petal, which also carry the color pigment evident in the multicolored flower. I had trouble focusing my phone camera as I zoomed in, most likely due to the proximity of the lens to the slide. Thus, the closer photo is blurry, but still shows the individual cells present on the petal.
Especially in light of the recent Earth Day and the increasingly beautiful weather, I am excited to continue to explore using the foldscope to discover more specimens and improve photo clarity.
Although slightly blurry, this photograph shows a closer view of the cells.
