This sample was an unstained blood sample from Africa. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to find any microbes in this sample. Despite scanning all throughout the sample, zooming in and refocusing, I was unsuccessful in finding anything. This speaks to how difficult it is for health community workers to diagnose diseases on out in the field. Even if I were to have found a microbe in the sample, the concentration must have been low and the microbe must have been very small, perhaps a single cellular organism. In addition, since the sample was not stained that made identifying microbes even more difficult.
The image below does not have any microbes, it is just the white blood cells from the sample. In order to get the scale bar on the image, I looked up the size of a white blood cell, which is roughly 15 micrometers in diameter. I then counted about 6.5 white blood cells next to each other and drew a line in PowerPoint from the edge of the first cell to about half of the 6th cell. This line is then estimated as about 100um.
