On the fold scope we took a slide of a butterfly, honey bee, and a monarch butterfly wing.
The butterfly wing it has lots of shapes and different shades of brown, tan, and a yellow. it is bumpy and looks rough but it is really soft feeling the wing.
First is the monarch butterfly is dark and has a couple shades of lighter colors. It is very fuzzy (not a sharp shape or design on the butterfly). It has fuzzy stems or lined shaped connecting from each other building almost like a vine on the wing.
The honey bee wing is very plain and simple(the last picture). It is a light color and has a darker line that looks like a vein in the body. It doesn’t have much detail and shape in it.
The pictures are the insight of different types of wings.. Using the fold scopes makes it easier to see the details of the wings. The wings of a butterfly look rather scaly. Our theory is that since butterfly’s wings carry dust on their wings we think that maybe the butterflys wings need to be scaly in order to hold the dust in place. This experiment that practically anyone can do. The future generations, with the fold scopes, can look at the details of different types of bugs and insects.
