Every year I teach on a course on Plant Biology to a BioMedical PhD program in Cape Verde, Africa. This is the first such initiative on Portuguese speaking Africa, and despite the effort of the various foundations that support the project, the University there has but just a few microscopes, and no really microscopy education lab. I brought a batch of foldscopes, and the reception to the project was enthusiastic (see photos) with people discussing applications from teaching to diagnosis. The students will post their own results.
