Incredible find Dr. Joytsna Das. I have imaged Rotifers for so many years; I had never seen a colonial rotifer. Beautiful video of an incredible animal. Could you also post the surroundings you found the animals – what does this pond look like. I am also sharing a link to general description on these colonial animals. It would be beautiful to image the flow field of “collective” feeding in these rotifers.. please see a recent technique we made available at : http://www.wgilpin.com/flowtrace_docs/ – you could use milk as a tracing particles. http://cfb.unh.edu/cfbkey/html/Organisms/PRotifera/GConochilus/conochilus_hippocrepus/conochilushippocrepis.html Fantastic post – would love to read more about where you sampled and the kind of projects you are involved in. welcome to the community. cheers manu

Wow, cant wait to get a hand on a colonial rotifer. This is truly a very special video. Here is another instance of a similar genus found across the globe http://microcosmos.foldscope.com/?p=19694
