As Batman and Robin found out this morning, using just tape to make a slide is far faster & easier than trying to mount it onto the plastic ones provided or paper ones. It has fewer air pockets which makes better viewing. I prefer the staples packaging tape to all others as it tends to be the clearest and cheapest. As a Homeschooler it is my fast, cheap mini laminator. I haven’t tried this with a wet sample yet but suspect water tension is critical if it is to work at all. 1. Take a section of tape between 5-7 centimeters long. 2. Bend the corners back in order to secure it to a surface. Or have an assistant hold down the corners. 3. Mount your whatever, in this case a dead bug dissected this morning. Be careful to only use half the tape lengthwise. 3. Fold the tape in half or better yet almost in half lengthwise leaving a small border which can be folded over again securing the slide. It should just fit into the foldscope. We like this better as there were fewer air pockets, more mounting/viewing area, and was faster as well as more forgiving to assemble. I am curious if anyone else finds this helpful.
