The petiole is slender and fairly long ranging. The base of the petiole is pulvinate and slightly twisted   at base .The transverse section of petiole is more or less circular in outline. It shows single layered epidermis and a wide zone of cortex, single layered endodermis, wavy arrangement of 3-4 layers of fibrous pericycle ,and 6 vascular bundles arranged in a ring and broad zone of central parenchymatous pith.
