My intent was to discover if crab apple cells looked the same if they were living or if the apple was rotten. I simply cut a small section off from a green baby crab apple, and a section from a rotten crab apple. The living cell appears to be much more vibrant. Reflecting back on this experiment, I realize I took the two pictures in different lighting. The living cell sample was taken in front of the window which impacted my cell picture. Another thing to consider is how long was the crab apple rotten. I imagine it takes a while for all cell function to cease after death.
