The outreach activity was conducted at Panchayat Union Public School Muppathuvetti, Vellore, Tamil Nadu on 2 nd Aug 2018. A total number of 40 students from class 6 th , 7 th and 8 th and teachers actively participated in this event.
The workshop was started with a presentation in regional language (Tamil) highlighting the need of microscope and their applications in everyday life. Later, the talk was emphasized towards the advantages of the foldscope over the conventional microscope. Thanks to my students Mr. Dhanush and Mr. S Manoj Kumaran for helping me as a translator. Special thanks to Ms. Sangeeta, my research scholar and JRF of the project, for taking lead for this outreach activity.
The students were very excited to learn about slide preparation especially of onion peel and stomatal cells and observation of Rotifers under the Foldscope.
Glimpses of the outreach activities and few microscopic observations captured by school students and staff are attached.
