This is my first attempt to work on haemoparasites using foldscope. the blood sample was taken from patient suffering with Cerebral malaria. Ring, schizonts and cyst stage can be observed by staining with 3% Giemsa stain and is very clearly observed under foldscope without the use of any sophisticated cell phone. 10%Giemsa stain was also used but could not observe the stages of parasites directly under foldscope. It requires the use of high end cell phone . The photograph taken in an Android phone can be maximized in adobe photo viewer or any suitable program to have an enlarged and clear picture view. In-order to view under the foldscope the smear was fixed in methanol for few seconds and then stained. The slide was totally covered with cover slips and fixed the cover slips using clear tape.
