Gohpur, a subdivision of Biswanath district of Assam, is situated in the north bank of the mighty Brahmaputra. This area is blessed with a good number of small rivers originating from the hills of Arunachal Pradesh. The rivers are fast flowing and often cause flood in the monsoon season in this area. The flood prone areas of this subdivision were visited during the monsoon season and samples of drinking water were collected. B. Sc students of the department of Zoology prepared slides from these water samples and observed in foldscope. Microbial contamination in those water samples could be detected using foldscope.
