IMG_5872 Checking the fertility of semen from a mature male bovine that had been cryogenically preserved. This semen was thawed for breeding purposes during this passed spring, and was used to artificially inseminate a female bovine. This is a common practice in modern cattle production, and was demonstrated in the classroom for a high school agriculture class. The students were taught to look for the appropriate morphology and motility of the sperm cells during this fertility check.
