A   human  blood  film  or  blood  smear  is  a  very  thin  layer  of  blood  smear  on  a  foldscope  slide.  and  then stained  in  such  a  way  that  to permit  the  various  blood  cells  to  be  examined.  Blood  films  are  usually  tested  to  investigate  disorders  of  blood  and  occasionally  to  look  for  parasites  within  the  blood.
