Hello all
Myself Dr. Payal Surekha a Veterinary Science graduate presently undergoing postgraduate programme (MVSc) at Division of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu. I got this foldscope from my advisor Dr. A.K.Pandey who has received Foldscope grant from the Department of biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi.
My area of interest is on animal reproduction and i am here posting my first picture taken through Foldscope. I have taken vaginal cell cytology sample from anestrous bitch stained in giemsa stain.
The slide shows parabasal cells characterised by small sized with presence of large nucleus. I have to take more samples from estrus phase. i realize that foldscope is very useful for detecting estrus cycle in bitch. The exact breeding time in bitch is determined by visualization of cell cytology and this Foldscope may be a handy tool for determining the stage of cycle in bitch. I will post more pictures in my next posts.
