Ropar Wetland, Ropar Lake, is a man-made freshwater wetland. It was created in 1952 on the Sutlej River, in the Punjab state of India, by building a head regulator to store and divert water for beneficial uses of irrigation, drinking and industrial water supply The area has huge biological diversity and is reported to be a home of various mammals, bird (migratory and local), fish, arthropods, rotifers, crustacean and protozoan species, This important ecological zone is located in the Shivalik foothills of the Lower Himalayas and is at a distance of around 50 km from Chandigarh.
