High resolution images of Spirogyra colonizing the seagrass meadows

During ground survey of seagrass meadows from southern part of Chilika Lagoon, dense growth of algae covering the seagrasses were observed. Water samples were collected on board through plankton net and mounted immediately to identify the macroalgae. Filamentous green algae: Spirogyra was identified based on their characteristics spiral pattern of chloroplast.
