Bracts are modified leaf especially associated with a reproductive structure such as a flower. The bracts of Bougainvillea are thin and papery and surround the tiny true flower.
Each bract has a central vein with several veinlets. However they do not undergo the process of photosynthesis. The bracts too show reticulate venation.
