We did an experiment where we added coffee to a mosquito larvae. ALl of us thought that the heart beat will go up – just like when we drink coffee. Coffee has caffeine that is known to affect heart rate.
We were all surprised that the heart rate goes down. So our hypothesis was not correct. We also discussed that adding hot water can have an independent affect.
Now we will add cold coffee to test this – and our coffee is cooling as we speak.
We look forward to engaging with the community – and be a part of puerto rico teachers excited about science and learning.
