Thrips (Order Thysanoptera) are tiny and slender insects with fringed wings. They have unique asymmetrical mouthparts. Many thrips species are pests of agricultural and horticultural crops. Some species are known vectors of plant viruses. Also, several species are beneficial as pollinators as well as predators of other insects or mites. [Specimens from Dr R.R. Rachana]
