Methodology of the experiments carried out:

Observation of the pollen from the Hibiscus and Yellow Tabebuia flowers: The pollen is a powdery substance containing the pollen grains and are present on the anther of a flower. The pollen grains were examined as follows:

  1. The anther of the flower was removed and was placed on the centre of the glass slide containing a drop of water. The anther was gently squeezed with the help of a mounting needle and forceps.
  2. A coverslip was placed over the specimen and any excess water was removed using a blotting paper. The sides of the coverslip were attached to the microscopic slide with an adhesive tape.
  3. The glass slide was placed in the foldscope and the pollen grains were observed. The foldscope containing the glass slide was placed on the stage of the compound microscope and was observed using the microscope’s 10 X objective lens.
