Foldscope has given a new dimension to the field of frugal science. The paper microscope has not only given easy access to the microscopic world to common people but also has redefined the concept of doing science and understanding it. We were fortunate that inventor of the foldscope, Prof. Manu Prakash and his colleague Dr. Thibaut thought of spending one day with us at Chilika (Odisha) India. We had a chance to collect and mount different plankton and benthic samples collected from Chilika Lagoon on 16 ^th October 2018 with them. It was an exciting day and we spent around 6 hrs inside Chilika Lagoon collecting various planktonic and benthic samples. On board, foldscopy of samples and live demonstration taught to us by  Prof. Manu made us realized the real potential of Foldscope in analyzing the microscopic biodiversity of Chilika. Earlier, we used to collect the samples and bring them to lab for foldscopy but at that day we realized that this observational lag is detrimental to many life forms. On board foldscopy allowed us to see live feeding of sponges, Vorticella, Euglena, and many  planktonic larval forms within few minutes of our sample collection on boat itself. I must accept  that I never saw and captured such live movements of these mini and microorganism though our lab is blessed with several expensive Olympux BX53 light microscopes. Thanks to Prof. Prakash  for being with us at the Nature’s paradise  Chilika.
