Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of Sathyabama Institute of Science and technology has organized a one-day Science awareness program on ‘Foldscope Microscope assembly and usage for the School students’ funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India on 20-07-2018 at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Sholinganallur, Chennai. The 10th to 12th standard school students got benefited out of it. The hands-on training and digitalized imaging of samples using smartphone highly attract the students and teachers. Both students and teachers are excited about the foldscope and delighted the scientific advancement. The students visualized their syllabus oriented practical biological samples like Onion root cells, Blood cells, Heart muscle cells, Cross section of leaf. In addition to that, we explained our core research area (regeneration biology) and use of foldscope in addressing the scientific questions. The students and teachers are more impressed with foldscope imaging techniques and raised the question where it is available to buy and when it will be issued to our schools.
