 You won’t be-leaf what you can see with such a simple instrument! I pulled this small leaf out of the dirt in a grassy area right off of Washington Road, outside Fine Hall. It looked like a very small clover leaf, and was only about 1 cm in diameter and had rounded edges. This image is showing the edge of the leaf since it is relatively thick and didn’t allow light to shine through it. The “lines” on the leaf are veins, responsible for moving nutrients across the leaf, and were very visible through the foldscope. What surprised me was that while looking at a few different leaves under the scope, even a leaf that appeared yellow to the eye had green pigmentation under the scope!
