Foldscope Sample: Dirt

My foldscope was used to look at a sample of dirt outside in a garden patch, on the Princeton Campus, in Princeton University. The sample was dirt.
Within the clumps of dirt, it is possible to make out different small, (assumingly) unicellular species – assumed to be Vorticella. The dirt particles are also able to be separated – while I can’t necessarily name the particular components. With the light shining, the color was green.

The process of folding was rather easy. Myself and a few of my colleagues folded the fold scope as a sort of game // a puzzle, if you will. It was much fun! Rather simple, easy to put together as well – just make sure all of the blue and all of the yellow face the same direction in the final product
