This foldscope experiment, while challenging, was very cool and rewarding. Not only did I create a microscope, but I created a workable microscope! My mom would be so proud. For my sample, I chose to use little bits of a dead leaf I found in the Jadwin courtyard. At first, my sample was too large, and made the miscroscopic image too homogeneous. I also tried using my saliva and a shard of grass, but came back to the leaf, because it had the most interesting a vivid image. I think what we are looking at is a close up image of the veins of the dead leaf, and the white spaces are the empty, clear space on the slide. All in all, I was very impressed with how functional the foldscope was, how fun it was to assemble, and how pretty the produced images are!
