Slug caterpillars ( Class Limacodidae; Order Lepidoptera)
Slug caterpillars seem more fantasy than reality. They are rivalled only by the prominents in the diversity of their form, colours. Anterior end possessing three pairs of elongate, subdorsal lobes each bearing numerous stinging spines; posterior end with two pairs of elongated subdorsal lobes. Sides with shallow depressions ringed with black or white situated between subdorsal and subspiracular lobes. The larvae are typically much flattened and they move by rolling waves rather than walking.Thick short spiny hairs out of rows of warts on the body. These spiny hairs when touched cause irritation to the skin.
