Great initiative there by this lady, Dipti Bisht who invited us to be part of this Mela. She motivated all the Municipal School Teachers to initiate using the foldscopes in school at thier own expense, initiating inquiry based learning using the Foldscope.

Anupma Harshal. The mela is organised by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation jointly with the Association for Research and Training in Basic Science Education. The foldscopes were assembled and students from Grade 1 to Degree college had the preview of the foldscope. The footfall of students from Municipal, Government and Private schools was to the tune of 750 each day. The visitors included Teachers, Parents, Scientists, Professionals, Farmers and more. People came from as far as Shegaon, Amravati and nearby locations. The students were shown handling of the foldscope, making of the slides, mounting, sampling and more. The enthusiasm was contagious with most of them wanting to draw images of what they had visualized. The team consisted of Prof. Atul Kotian, Ashish Jaiswar, Vikas Gurudu, Manasi Prabhu, Mausam Yadav with myself, we were joined by Dr. Sagarika Damle on the last day at the exhibition stall. Students doubts were sorted, the team helped them seek answers to a lot of questions and many other queries were noted down. It was a learning process as the exhibition had stall of all subjects with live experiments by the children.
