A Closer Look with the Foldscop e.

Used the Foldscope 2.0. Using the Foldscope was a fun and an amazing experience to explore a hidden side of everyday objects. Things that normally look simple to the naked eye became much more detailed, textured, and interesting under magnification 140x. It made me realize how much we usually miss when we do not look closely.
One of my images shows a tiny piece of raspberry. I was trying to capture the small hair-like structures on the surface, and it looks like I was able to see them. The red pigment also seems to change in different parts of the image, which makes it even more interesting. In the background, there may also be fingerprints or tiny microbes.
Another image shows ear wax placed on a slide from the FoldScope kit. It has a very unusual appearance, with spike-like lines on one side and small cell-like shapes in the middle. I am not completely sure what all of the structures are, but that was part of the experience. Using the Foldscope is not just about seeing things, but also about asking questions.
I also looked at bread and a strand of hair. The bread had many tiny dots and different colours, possibly caused by light reflecting off its uneven surface. The hair showed fine lines running along the strand, with slight differences in pigment. Overall, this activity showed me that even ordinary objects can look surprising, complex, and almost artistic when viewed up close.
