 Students of Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses of Zoology, Botany and Biotechnology of Pandu College, Gauhati college and Assam down town University, participated in the symposium. Dr Bulbuli Khanikor, Dr Banasri Mech , Dr Barnali Sarmah and Dr Lalit Kumar Goswami shared their experiences with foldscope and delivered their talk on Research with Foldscope.

 Students, also joined in group to face the competition of assembling Foldscope and slide preparation cum nicely focused video in shortest time.

 Students showed keen interest in competition session and will take up Foldscope to do their Dissertation in Final Semester.

 I was really very anxious to see my histology slides after attending the Foldscope workshop organised in ICGEB by DBT on 16/04/2018. I am happy as I could focus the section with Foldscope and mobile, which I couldn’t do in the workshop. pressing the sample stage folds in mobile phone view, section get nicely focused. But, while viewing directly, stage folds need to raised for focusing.

<p>
 Thank you for inventing such handy instrument which could be used by every child.
</p>

Captured rat skin section by Foldscope

 Tried to capture mitosis, most of the cells were found to be in telophase and late anaphase. More experiments are still in process to get better resolution photos for capturing metaphase.

 severe damage has been caused to nucleus and swelling of cells has been observed in the second image when onion root tips were treated with benzene. photo has been captured by using Nokia 7 plus mobile handset, purchased for the project.

 Around 150 students combining both class 9 and 10, tried performing practical. They show onion peel cells. They were so fast and excited in doing the practical. So, we decided to hand over one foldscope  to do more Biology practicals and would keep a follow up of their experiences.

 Earlier we visited to Paschim Mayong High  (23/08/2018) and interacted with about 150 students but, what we found that explaining foldscope to such huge crowd would not be fruitful in two or three hours time. So, in Chandrapur High School (27/08/2018), we targeted 15 student each from Class 9 and 10. They were trained with two experiment to see cheek cells and onion cells. these students were given task to explain the foldscope to their fellow classmate. We have given one foldscope for this trial. After, one week the feedback would be collected from Principal of the school. During, the training three /four students were very active and could prepare very neat cheek cells smear slide. Girls were slightly slow as they were more concerned that their white chadar would get stained we they do it fast. Paschim Mayong girl students were much better in learning the instrument, they helped five groups to prepare onion cell temporary mount.

 First phase of Foldscope utility in Biology done in Five schools, last school attended was Bonda Anchalik High School on 18th Sept. Second round of Foldscope Utilization would be conducted after completion of 2nd Terminal exam in these schools.
</p>
<p>
 Also, on 21st Sept Project fellow gave oral presentation on genotoxic effect of residual pesticides observed by using Foldscope. Valuable suggestions were given to expand the research work so to get publications.
</p>

 Blood  of various fishes collected from Uzanbazar ghat (local fish market), Guwahati and observed under Foldscope.  Local fishes like Goroi, Kuhi also showed bigger nucleated blood cells like Cuchia.
