 spp. larvae as observed through Foldscope . (The kink in the tail is the important characteristic feature of this parasite.) Females of the specie may lay over 10,000 eggs a day which pass from the host animal in the faeces. After hatching from their eggs,
 
 Haemonchus
 
 spp larvae molt several times, resulting in an L3 form that is infectious for the animals. The host ingests these larvae when grazing. The L4 larvae, formed after another molt, and adult worms suck blood in the abomasum of the animal, potentially giving rise to anaemia and oedema, which eventually can lead to death. The infection, called haemonchosis, causes large economic losses for farmers around the world, especially for those living in warmer climates.

 A workshop on “Foldscope as a Field Diagnostic Tool for animal Diseases” was organized by Animal Disease Research Centre, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary &amp; Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana on 11.03.2019.  The workshop was organized for dissemination of knowledge of use Foldscope to field Veterinarians, Scientists and Research scholars of the university. A total of 26 participants enrolled in the workshop, including field Veterinarians, Scientists and Research Scholars from the university.
 
 Workshop began with the overview lecture about the foldscope and workshop by Dr. M.S. Bal, organizing Secretary followed by an enlightening lecture on Use of Foldscope as diagnostic tool for animal diseasesby Dr. Kuldip Gupta and ‘Smart phone as a smart diagnostic tool for animal parasitic diseases’ by Dr. L. D. Singla.
 
 The practical session was conducted by Dr. Rashmi Sagar, Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Dr. Vishal Mahajan and Dr. M. S. Bal in which hands-on training regarding assembly, functioning and application of the foldscope as filed diagnostic tool was given to the participants.

 is a genus of mosquitoes, several species of which serve as vectors of one or more important diseases of birds, humans and animals including arbovirus infections such as West Nile virus, Japanese encephalitis, filariasis and Avian malaria. Echinococcus granulosus
 
 also called the hydatid worm, hyper tape-worm or dog tapeworm, is a cyclophyllid cestode that dwells in the small intestine of canids as an adult and has important intermediate hosts such as livestock and humans where it causes cystic echinococcosis, also known as hydatid disease. The images show the  scolex with suckers and gravid segment respectively.
