 This video is from a sample of water taken from the turtle pond at about 10:50 PM on April 14th. The sample was collected from the stagnant area of the pond and placed in the standard microwell slide.


 The organism at the beginning of the video appears to be a protozoan, judging by its unicellular appearance, the structure of the cell, and the similarity of its movement to that of a ciliate. The rest of the video has multiple opaque, quickly-moving objects displaying non-Brownian motion. Their motion indicates that they are alive, but my attempts to classify them have been unsuccessful. One method to determine their species may be to compare their size, shape, and motion to other organisms until the most probable match is found. #caltechbi1

 This pollen sample was taken from an
 
 Agapanthus africanus
 
 flower at May 10th 10:45 AM near Caltech’s Sherman Fairchild Library. The flower this sample was taken from is also shown. To collect the sample, pollen from a newly bloomed flower was brushed onto the slide. This is also evident in the image of the sample, as some of the pollen appears to have been mildly smeared in the process. #caltechbi1
