 This picture was taken of some mud and water and possibly algae. The sample was taken at around 4:30pm, April 18th, 2019 from the surface of the pond outside of Baxter Lecture Hall. The sample was obtained by scooping some mud off the surface with a clean lid from a plastic cup from Chandler.


 Since the sample seems to be mostly plant matter, without anything resembling bacteria or other living, moving organisms, this sample is under the domain Eukarya since it is plant matter like algae.

Orange Hibiscus

This is a picture of the petal of a small purple flower that was found behind Bechtel near a parking lot. It was collected around 7:30pm. The flower was picked off of the bush. You can see the edge of the petal in the foldscope photo.

Purple Flower Petal

This small purple flower was collected from near a parking lot behind Bechtel. The flower was picked off of its stem from the bush at around 7:30pm on May 31st. This is a picture of the pollen from this flower. It appears to be a lavendula flower.

Pollen of Small Purple Flower

This flower was collected from Avery gardens behind Avery house. It was picked off of its stem. This picture is of its petals. It was collected at around 7:30pm on May 31st. Its petals ranged in color from light orange and pink and cream to dark orange.

Orange perennial petals

This is a photo of the stamen and pollen from a dying red rose found outside of Avery House. It was collected by rubbing the stamen onto the slide to look at later so that the rose flower wasn’t taken off. It was collected at around 7:40pm.

Red Rose from Avery

This is a picture of the pollen from big white flowers, which look like roses or white amaryllis. It was collected from outside of the CSS building at Caltech in Pasadena at around 7:15pm. It was collected by picking the flower from the stem in the bushes.

Big White Flowers

This picture is of the petal of the white flowers found from outside the CSS building at Caltech in Pasadena. This sample was retrieved at around 7:15pm on May 31st and it was obtained by picking a flower off of its stem. The edge of the petal can be seen here.

White flower petals

This is a sample of the petals from tiny orange flowers that were taken from outside of the CSS building at Caltech in Pasadena. The flower sample was collected by picking off a few flowers off of the plant at around 7:15pm. The petals were a deep orange.

Tiny Orange Flowers

This is a picture of the petal of a big orange/pink rose from near Milikan Pond at Caltech in Pasadena. The rose was collected at around 7:45pm by plucking the rose off of its stem. You can see the edge of the petal in the photo. It was together with a few other smaller pink flowers.
