This was the first elective I chose, and it turned out to be pretty good.
The first day we learnt the basics and experimented with the foldscope and observed Fern rhizome and onion cells. We were struggling to prepare samples and focusing on the sample.
The second day we observed Fingerprints, Hair, Fabric and Feather under the foldscope. It was cool but we couldn't observe any cells and could only observe the general structure of the sample.
The next day we observed Saliva and Squamous cells. We spent the whole day working on it as properly collecting the sample and making out the cell boundaries took a lot time. But it was worth the effort.
We did a lot in the 4th day. On this day we observed Tomato, Potato, Pollen, Bee wings and Fungi. We perfected the sample making and usage of the foldscope at this point. This was by far the best day. The pollen turned out good similar to a ball of gold. The potato cells also looked similar to water drops.
On the fifth day we gave a PPT presentation on what we did and understood the whole elective. Everybody's PPT presentation was excellent
We also experimented with the foldscope on our own like Nail Dust, Fly wings, Ant bodies, Blood, etc. I thank the Lodha Genius Program for organizing such a wonderful program.
Thanks a lot
