Today, I observed potato cells and tomato cells using the Foldscope at Ashoka University during the LGAUP course. It was a very exciting and interesting experience for me because I could see tiny cell structures very clearly.
The potato cells were neatly arranged and had many small starch granules, which showed how plants store food. The tomato cells looked colorful because of their natural pigments, and it was fascinating to notice the difference between the two types of cells.
One difficult part of the activity was preparing the slides. Making a proper slide required patience and careful handling because sometimes the sample would move, tear, or contain air bubbles. It took a few attempts to make a clear slide for observation, but the process helped me learn an important scientific skill.
Using the Foldscope has made science more practical, fun, and enjoyable for me. I am thankful to Anupama ma’am for teaching us so clearly and making every activity interesting.
