The PG and Research Department of Botany organized a Guest lecture Programme on the topic entitled “Applications of Foldscope in Bioscience and Ecosystem Biomonitoring through Environmental DNA Metaborcoding approach” on 10.01.2019 under DBT –Foldscope Project Scheme. Dr. G. Gurusubramanian, Principal Investigator, DBT – Foldscope Scheme Project, North East Collaborator, Professor and Head of Zoology, Mizoram University, Aizawl, served as a resource person and delivered a brainstroming lecture to all the UG, PG and Research Scholars of the Botany Department. He introduced the Foldscope to the student community and also explained about the Environmental DNA (eDNA), Community DNA (cDNA) and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). He emphasized some of the DNA databases such as EMBL, GenBank, DDBJ, Barcoding and MetaBarcoding approaches. At the end of the lecture he suggested some job oriented opportunities and its current scenario.
